What is respite care?
Respite care is a short stay in a care home. It gives family carers a break, whether that’s a holiday, time to recover or a few weeks to rest, while the person they care for is looked after.
We know it’s hard to trust someone else with care when you’re used to doing it all yourself. Before the stay, we’ll take time to learn how your loved one likes things done: their routines, what they like to eat and what helps them feel at home. You’re welcome to visit first and meet the team, and to call or visit while they’re here.
During their stay, they’ll live in a home that dates back to the 1850s, with high-ceilinged bedrooms, most with en-suite facilities, and secure gardens with water features, a sensory garden, and animal and bird enclosures. They’re welcome to bring familiar things from home to help them settle in.
